Travel Documents and Restrictions
While a lot of things about your trip can be decided once you arrive, there are some things which require some planning ahead of time. You should be aware of the requirements of holding a valid passport and visa before you enter, and find out how to get a visa, and which visa to apply for.
Once you arrive you'll also need to register with the local Public Security Bureau, and if you're staying for a long time you should also register with the embassy of your home country which is closest to you in China (usually either Beijing or Shanghai).
