Zhengzhou 2006 Competition Details

Below are the details about the 2006 Zhengzhou International Traditional Wushu Fair and the details of the competition.

Date and Place
The 2nd World Traditional Wushu Championships will be held from October 14 to 19, 2006 in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, China.

Participants
Member federations of the International Wushu Federation (IWUF),
those wushu groups which have been recognized by the member associations of IWUF, and those wushu groups located in the countries or regions not affiliated to IWUF.

Competition Events
Bare-handed Routine, Apparatus (weapons), Dual event and Group event.
Bare-handed routines and apparatus of the same kind are put into the same group. All the bare-handed routines and apparatus groups, whose participants are below 5 persons, are put into the other kinds of routines.

Participation Methods
Each team may enter ONE group event, with no limitations on age groups, and groups may consist of any combination of male or female competitors. If there are less than 6 participants in a group there will be no competition.

Each individual athlete may enter TWO individual events (bare-handed or apparatus). The two performances by the athlete must be different and the athlete may not enter twice for the same kind of bare-hand routine.

Each team may enter for ONE dual event, with each group limited to THREE people. As with the group event, there are no limitations on age or gender of the athletes in the dual event.

Participating countries or regions who have more than 20 athletes may enter for one team judge (however this judge must have worked as judges at national or regional wushu competitions at least three times and are qualified for team judges at the Championships).

Age Groups
Individual events will be divided into the following age groups:

  • Group A: below age 13 (including 13)

  • Group B: age 14-28

  • Group C: age 29-44

  • Group D: age 45-55

  • Group E: age 56-66

  • Group F: age 67+

Requirements

  • The competition will adopt the “Rules for International Taolu Competition” endorsed by IWUF in 1999.
  • Bare-handed and apparatus routines should be between 50 seconds and 90 seconds

  • Taijiquan routines should be between 4-6 minutes long, while Taiji apparatus routines should be between 50 and 90 seconds.

  • Dual event routines should be between 50 and 90 seconds.

  • Group event routines should be between 3-4 minutes, and music is allowed (you must provide a CD or tape)

  • Teams and individuals must register for life and health insurance on their own

  • Athlete order in the competition is pre-selected, but application can be made to the Competition Department in writing for alternatives, though there is a fee.

Placing and Awards
The top three places of each age group for male and female will be awarded, in each competition category.

Entry and Registration
The completed Entry Forms (2 copies in A4 format) must reach
the IWUF Secretariat and the Organizing Committee by mail or fax no later than September 20, 2006.

The participating teams are required to register at the event in Zhengzhou on October 14, 2006.

Non-IWUF member federation teams from countries or regions affiliated to IWUF are required to hand over the certificates recognized by their IWUF member federations during registration.
