The Wushu Tournament Beijing 2008

The Wushu Tournament Beijing 2008 will be staged in Beijing from August 21 to 24, 2008. In order to guarantee the smooth running in the preparation and operation of the competition, the IWUF Secretariat would like to make explanations on the following points:

1. The Wushu Tournament Beijing 2008 is a competition approved by the IOC to be held during the 2008 Olympic Games, but Wushu is not an official Olympic Games sport. The IWUF will be the responsible organization for the tournament. Please contact the IWUF Secretariat for detailed information on the competition.

2. The list of qualified athletes for the Tournament will be submitted to the BOCOG for the sake of visa issuance. Taking account of the future Wushu development, it is suggested to all IWUF members not to make further requests to their NOCs to avoid unnecessary problems.

3. The first 6 place winners of Taolu and the first 8 place winners of Sanshou athletes in the 9th World Wushu Championships are qualified for the Wushu Tournament Beijing 2008. Members involved shall confirm their athletes’ participation and send the name list to the IWUF Secretariat before February 12, 2008. Due to Quota limitation, Team Official Quota shall be ratified after the finalization of Athlete List.

4. Wild Card Allocation will be made and checked by the Technical Committee based on the announced methods and practical situation, then be presented to the Executive Committee for approval.
